About Paul McPherson

Paul has spent his adult life as a photographer.

For over a decade he photographed for catalogs and worked as a professional advertising photographer.

Paul has always enjoyed photographing weddings and has been shooting them since the mid-eighties. Weddings have always been one of the more challenging aspects of photography for Paul, but also one of the most rewarding. He has a love for working with people and wedding photography is the perfect venue for that very reason.

In 2005, he moved from Columbus, Ohio, to Des Moines, and Iowa welcomed him with open arms. By February 2006, his schedule was full for the 2006 season.

For the past five years Paul has enjoyed working with people through teaching photography to about 100 students per week in his popular classes. He has continued his love of teaching here in Iowa at the Des Moines Art Center.

One of Paul’s passions while in Ohio had been whitewater kayaking in the nearby rapids of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Iowa is not known for its whitewater, so Paul has traded his kayak for a canoe and explores the many Iowa rivers that meander through the state. His constant companion, a springer spaniel, has also enjoyed these river exploits along with Paul’s wife and photo assistant, Darcy.
